She continued her playing career at Shelton State Community College, where she earned a softball scholarship. There, Lori helped guide her team to back-to-back Alabama Junior College State Championships in 1983 and 1984, with top-four finishes in the NJCAA National Tournament both years. Under her leadership, Hale County won area and regional titles nearly every season and captured four AHSAA State Championships: in 2014 (2A), 2015 (3A), 2016 (3A), and 2018 (4A). Her teams consistently placed among the state's elite, and she finished her coaching career with a record of 284-195-2.
Lori was named AHSAA Coach of the Year in 2014 (2A) and 2015 (3A), and was honored as Alabama's State Softball Coach of the Year by the National Federation of High School Coaches Association in 2014. She was inducted into the Marengo County Sports Hall of Fame in 2012, the West Alabama Softball Hall of Fame in 2015, and the Alabama Amateur Softball Association Hall of Fame in 2021.
