Bucs Fall to Itawamba
Fulton, MS- The Shelton State Men's Basketball team saw their six-game winning streak snapped by the Itawamba Indians, 90-71.
The Bucs were led by sophomore Troy Dunn, who poured in 20 points, knocking down 4 trey balls. Nazir Griffin scored 13 and Hasani Rivera posted a 13-point, 7 rebound performance. The Bucs shot 47% from beyond the arc (7-15) but only 36% from the free throw line (4-11).
The Bucs fell behind the Indians (12-2) early as they found themselves facing a 15-point deficit at the break. Troy Dunn scored 9 of his 20 in the first, with all 9 points coming from beyond the arc. The Indians were led by Damarion Winston who scored 13 of his 15 points in the opening half and Marcel Bridges who poured in 14 of his 24 in the first 20 minutes of action.
The 2nd half was a much closer battle as the Bucs were led by Hasani Rivera who scored 11 of his 13 in the last 20 minutes. The Indians grew their lead in the second half thanks to a 9-11 effort from the free throw line.
The Bucs return to action on Friday, December 14th, as they travel to Memphis, TN for the Southwest Tennessee Classic.
