Bucs Avenge Loss to East Mississippi; Extend Win Streak to 6 Games
Tuscaloosa- The Shelton State men's basketball team extended their winning streak to 6 games as they avenged an early season loss to East Mississippi, taking down the Lions 57-51.
The Bucs were led by Kuron Coleman who poured in 15 points behind four 3 pointers. Hasani Rivera posted a 14 point, 11 rebound double-double and Nazir Griffin scored 13 points to go along with 6 rebounds and 6 assists. The Bucs shot 42% from beyond the arc and held the Lions to just 33% from the field. The game featured 8 ties and 5 lead changes.
The 1st half saw the Bucs and Lions battle to 36 all tie beyond a blazing 7-12 from three for the Bucs. Kuron Coleman led the charge hitting 3 of 4 trey balls in the first 20 minutes of action. The Lions were led by Jermaurhiyun Anderson and Jonathan Baker who both scored 8 points.
The 2nd half was a defensive struggle as both teams shot under 35%. The Bucs held EMCC to just 21% shooting in the half including 0-5 from beyond the arc. Neither team led by more than 6 points in 2nd half until Kuron Coleman's dagger with 7 seconds left to give the Bucs the win.
The Bucs return to action on Tuesday, December 10th, as they travel to Fulton, MS to take on Itawamba Community College at 6:00 PM.
