Tuscaloosa, Alabama – Celebrating the College's rich heritage and tradition of athletic excellence, Shelton State Community College's Athletic Hall of Fame (Hall of Fame) will induct its second class of honorees on June 21. Those selected for recognition in 2025 are listed below.
Humphrey Lee, Former SSCC Dean of Students, Athletic Director, and Assistant Softball Coach
Barry Mohun, Former SSCC Athletic Director and Men's Basketball Coach
Susan Mohun, Former SSCC Athletic Coordinator and Bookkeeper
Bobby Sprowl, Current SSCC Baseball Coach
Madonna Thompson, Current SSCC Women's Basketball Coach
Lori Westbrook Wyatt, Former SSCC Softball Player and Assistant Softball Coach
"It is such an honor to be selected for the Shelton State Athletics Hall of Fame," shared Barry Mohun. "Coaching basketball isn't a job for me; it is a calling. Making a difference in young people's lives is the best part, and we had a great time doing that at Shelton. This is going to be a special time and I'm looking forward to being back on campus."
Mohun's wife and fellow inductee, Susan, echoed these sentiments. "To say I am excited to be an inductee into the Shelton State Athletics Hall of Fame is such an understatement," she said. "Shelton was always more than just the place that Barry and I worked, it was a family! We are so excited to be a part of this year's class and hope to see many old friends and share lots of great memories!"
The Hall of Fame serves as a means of recognizing and honoring athletes, coaches, teams, and individuals who have made significant contributions to the athletics programs at the College and who have set high standards for others to emulate. Honorees were nominated from three categories: athletes, coaches, or contributors.
"This year's inductees each have long and storied histories with the College," said Cara Crosslin, Shelton State's Athletics Director. "It is very exciting for us to welcome them home in a way that celebrates not only their contributions to the College but also brings together so many people who wish them well and are delighted to see them accept this honor."
The 2025 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held on Saturday, June 21 at 5:30 p.m. in the Martin Campus Atrium. Tickets for the ceremony are $75 each or $500 for a table. Tickets may be purchased by visiting Shelton State Community College Athletic Hall of Fame Ceremony. Cocktail attire is requested for all guests.
