Bucs Recognized for Academic Achievement
TUSCALOOSA - Shelton State Community College placed eight athletic teams and 86 student-athletes in the 2025 ACCC Commissioners Academic Honor Roll.
Academic Advisor Jessica Bates oversees the academic progress of all Shelton State student-athletes.
The eight teams recognized with a 3.0 grade point average or higher were baseball, women's basketball, cheerleading, women's cross country, men's cross country, men's golf, women's golf, and softball.
The baseball team placed 28 on the academic honor roll this semester. The Bucs (48-14, 27-9 ACCC) advanced to the NJCAA World Series for the third straight year and fourth time in five years. The Bucs won their 18th regular season conference championship and eighth ACCC and South District title.
The women's basketball team had 14 honorees this spring. The Bucs (31-5, 15-0 ACCC) made its deepest run in the national tournament finishing runner up to Northwest Florida State. The Bucs won the ACCC regular season championship for the 11th consecutive year.
The women's golf team placed six on the academic honor roll. The Bucs won their first ever national championship this spring, winning the event by 34 strokes.
The cheerleading squad also captured the national championship this spring. It was the squad's 14th national title.
The women's cross country team had two honorees. The Bucs finished second in the ACCC and advanced to the national tournament.
The softball team placed 16 players on the team, men's golf added eight, men's basketball had seven, and men's cross country had four.
