Shelton State Earns No. 5 Seed at JuCo World Series; Faces Florence-Darlington Tech on Sunday
The Shelton State baseball team earned the No. 5 seed at the 2025 NJCAA World Series and will face No. 6 seed Florence-Darlington Tech in a first round game on Sunday, May 25 at 11 a.m. (CT).
Shelton State (48-12) is making its third straight JuCo World Series appearance, and fourth in the last five years. It's the school's eighth overall trip to Grand Junction.
Shelton State is 5-1 in the post-season. The Bucs defeated NW Shoals, Coastal Carolina and Wallace State Hanceville to win the ACCC/Region 22 championship.
This past weekend, the Bucs defeated No. 2 LSU Eunice in a three-game series to claim the South District title.
The Bucs lead the nation in ERA (2.75), opponents batting average (.228), total sacrifices (79) and double plays (39).
Florence-Darlington Tech (50-10) is making its fourth trip to Grand Junction and second in a row.
The Stingers won the Region 10 championship and defeated Region 20 champion Harford in a three-game series to win the East District title.
Flo-Dar leads the nation with 42 sac flies and ranks second in runs scored (620) and fourth in hits (660). The Stingers are eighth with a 3.94 ERA.
The 2025 JuCo World Series begins Saturday, May 24 with four games.
No. 4 Johnson County faces No. 7 McLennan; No. 1 Walters State takes on No. 10 Eastern Oklahoma State; No. 2 Blinn (defending national champions) will play No. 9 Lake Land, and No. 3 Florida Southwestern takes on No. 8 Salt Lake City.
