Bucs Take Home 10th in Glenlakes Invitational
The Shelton State Men's Golf Team had a disappointing 3rd round of the Glenlakes Invitational held in Foley, AL at Glenlakes Golf Club. Under chilly, misty, and quite windy conditions in rounds 1 and 2, the Buccaneers had managed solid scores to be in a tie for 6th out of 16 teams. However, on a near perfect day Tuesday, Shelton State just couldn't put 4 solid counting rounds together and slipped to a tie for 10th. Will Norton finished tied for 8th with rounds of 72-75-74 (221), Wyatt McDonald was 42nd (236), Jackson Hill 44th (237), Lane Brewer 58th (243), and Michael Brewer 67th (256).
"Just a disappointing third round for the team, as a whole. I challenged them to treat this like the district tournament and catch some teams from the district in front of us, and we just didn't hit enough quality shots or make putts to give ourselves a chance. Will played very well, especially day 1 in the windy, cool conditions. He had a very good tournament finishing in the top 10. Wyatt battled and had a solid tournament, and Jackson was solid until round 3. So some things to build on, but we are going the wrong direction from such a good showing in the fall. Hopefully we can get back on track at Burningtree, especially since we only have three tournaments left." Coach Chris Sanford
The men play in the Calhoun Spring Invitational at Burningtree Country Club on March 24-25.
